Stone Egyptian Scarab Bead Medium with Vertical Hole Jewelry Supplies MAKUstudio MAKU raku
A cool Egyptian scarab beetle bead with a vertical hole is an impressive focal component for jewelry-making. Its substantial form lending weight and presence to necklaces, pendants, or statement bracelets, while the vertical perforation makes it easy to string on cords or wire for upright display. Xrafted details—flattened back, carved wing lines, and stylized body—echo ancient motifs and pair well with leather, metal chains, or mixed-media designs. In Egyptian history the scarab (representing the dung beetle, Scarabaeus sacer) was a powerful symbol of rebirth, transformation, and the daily renewal of the sun—associated with the god Khepri who was believed to roll the sun across the sky—so wearing a scarab bead conveyed protection, regeneration, and a connection to cosmic cycles, making it both an ornamental and meaningful choice for contemporary pieces inspired by antiquity.
I was born in Egypt, so it was really nice connecting with this Egyptian vendor at the African show in Tucson during gem show time. And, while I was shopping at the booth, my parents’ old neighbor walked up to me! A sign from my parents that was appropriately given at the Egyptian booth! What are the chances!!
*May be vintage, not sure though
*See photo for measurements
*About a 3-4 mm hole that runs vertically
*Made of stone, there will be small imperfections as it is handmade
*Handmade in Egypt
