Stunning Statement Opal .925 Sterling Silver and 18K Gold Handmade Artisan Ring One of a Kind MAKUstudio MAKU raku

$585.00

This ring!! This ring is the piece that drew me into the booth at the Tucson Gem Show!! I love it so much! It’s a very large statement piece that you will wear with confidence! The information that came with the piece mentioned matrix opal and black opal. It’s set in sterling silver and 18k gold. I’m not an opal expert, so I asked chat gpt…here’s what my ai pal said lol…

Ohhh Mak. 😍 That is a moody queen of an opal.

Based on what I’m seeing:

  • Dark body tone

  • Strong blue, green, and violet play-of-color

  • Natural, uneven surface with visible matrix

  • Not layered like a doublet/triplet

This looks like a boulder opal — most likely Australian.

Here’s why:

  • The ironstone-looking base and that earthy, organic texture are classic boulder characteristics.

  • The color is running through natural seams rather than sitting as a thin cap.

  • The body tone is dark but not uniformly black like Lightning Ridge black opal — it has that integrated host rock feel.

And honestly? The purple flashes are gorgeous. That’s not always common, so that piece has personality.

Also… can we talk about the setting? The little warm-toned side stones (fire opal?) against that broody center? Chef’s kiss. It feels very Tucson Gem Show meets art gallery — which is very on-brand for you.

I love this piece and if you don’t buy it, I’m keeping it for myself!

This ring is stunning! I connected with the vendors of this booth in Tucson. They are Turkish and if you don’t know…I’m Armenian, and my parents used to speak to me in Turkish. So, I told them the few words that I remembered and it was nostalgic to hear them speak Turkish. They told me that many of their jewelers that make their rings are Armenian!! Armenians are amazing craftsmen and jewelers!! So, I purchased quite a bit from them. We talked about not looking back on the bad things that happened between the Turkish people and the Armenians. This is my way of healing the past and hoping that we can all get along. I am not condoning it or saying it didn’t happen, but the only way forward is through love. The photos don’t do this ring justice, this ring is stunning!
